made a public records request, tried to talk to jim walter into speaking me a list. that did not work. it is so important that we have come up 500 + tenants. some people have fleets and so forth. the people do not know what is going on. it is going to fall back on the port. it is not going to fall back on any but -- anyone but the port. this does have to go to the board of supervisors eventually. i really cannot plead with you enough to come up with the way that we can communicate to the entire tennessee. i do not see how you are going to be able to make all the pieces come together between now and september. one of the issues i am pretty familiar with, you currently get your power from puc. and by california puc, at energy commission, you cannot become a utility. if you are putting meters in, they have to be put into the san francisco puc. they have not talked to ports at all. they were unaware of this going on. i am trying to say, there are so many loose ends that you cannot possibly get it by september. if you put that as a deadline, it will make it difficult for

jim mccormick. today's talk is fences and retaining walls. and one of the things i found most interesting is to show slides and talk about what we see in the slides as a way to trigger comments from our guests and your comments and questions as well. i think we have -- i have slides that i'm going to show you, basically three or four different pieces. the first piece is fences along the street. the second one is fence in people's back yards. the third part might be commercial fences. another part is retaining walls and maybe retaining walls that have fences on top. we have a lot of them in san francisco. and then retaining walls and issues related to retaining walls. we have a series of slides about that. and i will start by talking about this first slide, which is so atypical in san francisco. a white picket fence in san francisco. this is what we usually do not see. but there are very specific rules, and the rules say that where you have a fence on the front property line, you may not need a per knit. -- permit. you can build a fence withou

thank you, jim. good afternoon, commissioners. i'm here in a whole different capacity. so, i'm enjoying this, and thank you for asking me, jim and others from the task force. i've been involved in many area plan processes in san francisco in many different roles and this was a particularly unique role for us because at the time my day job, how i actually help to pay the rent, we had a community planning program which -- in neighborhood asian design provide technical support and processes for research work in many parts of the city. western soma folks came to us and said, can you really provide kind of our main staffing to augment what paul lord at the planning department was able to do? and we had a small technical team and we thought this was great. so, we were essentially consultants to a planning process which put us in this very official role. but really because of the nature of the process, we were co-thinkers. it was a very different role and relationship than consultants typically have in planning. we were sitting across a table, at the table with lots and lots o
